Real Yorkshire wedding on the set of Emmerdale: Mel and Ryan

If the setting for today’s real wedding looks at all familiar, it could be because Mel and Ryan were married in the north West Yorkshire village of Esholt, where TV soap Emmerdale was filmed. I’m sure you’ll agree the couple fit right in ~ they look like TV stars!

Thanks to Rachael Pereira Photography for sharing this beautiful wedding.

Mel said: “It was really important for me to get married in church and this was one of my favourite parts of the day. Friends sang personal songs in church during the signing of the register ~ that was beautiful and very special to us.”

The couple went for a classic theme with vintage-inspired details. Like many brides and grooms-to-be, they got crafty for their day making invitations, place cards and table numbers.

Mel said: “The table numbers were photos of me and Ryan or special places or things to do with the wedding, and the number was somewhere in each photo. We had a lot of comments on these!”

Mel had this advice for brides-to-be: “Start planning way in advance, don’t get stressed and add personal touches wherever you can as these are the things which make your wedding so special and memorable.

“Also don’t spend a lot of money where it isn’t necessary ~ there are so many things you can do yourself to save you hundreds of pounds.”

Melanie and Ryan met at work five years ago and Ryan proposed on a surprise holiday in Turkey in October 2009.
