For years doilies have been mocked by many; narrow minds seeing them only fit for granny to stand plants on. But doilies are making a serious comeback. So much so that the other day I bought my first one. They aren’t difficult to find ~ mine was one of a number piled up forlornly in the corner of a local charity shop and it set me back just £1.

Yesterday I showed you some inspirational doily wedding decor but the flexibility of these stitched shapes means they are ideally suited to repurposing. Tomorrow I’ll show you 12 of the best doily DIY projects around, but to start with here’s an easy one of my very own.
