Lou Lou Puchalka accessory boutique

This blog is all about showcasing great Yorkshire talent, and today it’s the turn of  accessory boutique Lou Lou Puchalka, which has just walked away with an award ~ ‘Best Independent Retailer 2011.’

Lou Lou Puchalka only opened in June 2011, in the stunning Grade I listed Corn Exchange, Leeds, one of Britain’s finest Victorian buildings and home to a host of creative, innovative and independent retailers.

It is owner and designer Louise Puchalka’s first boutique, but she’s been designing and working in the industry for 10 years and dreamt of being a milliner from an early age.

She says: “I love designing and making, that has always something I have been passionate about. To be able to do that as a job is great.

“My favourite part of running the business is the customers; working with brides designing head pieces for their special day. Most people are so excited and lovely to be around. Seeing the pictures of the day afterwards has probably got to be the best bit! I get immense pleasure from customers coming back with pictures and telling me how good they felt.”

Lou specialises in millinery and bridal accessories, all handmade in the design studio adjacent to the shop.

She says: “I can match the exact shade of your outfit, add your own fabric or requested design feature to any millinery or accessories to finish a desired look.

“Personal antique components and vintage jewellery can also be incorporated into our collections which creates a nostalgic timeless piece. Customers are free to choose the individual components of their piece so something unique can be created for each occasion.”
